This is a clever, fun read about three sisters who live alone, meaning without any male in the house, in the greater New York area in the early 1900s, a very unique situation for that time indeed. They encounter some very unsavory and dangerous men due to a carriage accident and all sorts of intrigue unfolds. I did not realize until the epilogue that the story is based on real newspaper articles about the sisters, which made these feisty, independent women even more interesting and fun to meet.
