Infidel

By Ayaan Hirsi Ali

Once again, I am left wondering how in a life of unspeakable abuse and misery some rise so far above it all to heights of personal strength, fortitude, success and character while sadly, most are just ruined. Ayaan Hirsi Ali is one amazing woman. Most of you are familiar with at least the generalities of her life. This book lays it all out in horrific detail with glimmers of beautiful hope. The contrast between her life path and her sister’s is startling. She tells her tale and at times it does drag a bit with the day-by-day events, but please finish the book because the last three pages pack the most powerful punch where she eloquently summarizes her goals of empowering all women but specifically those Muslim women who are prisoners in a religious doctrine that is dangerous and detrimental to them on so many levels. She is brilliant, brave, articulate, and compassionate.
