How to Behave in a Crowd

By Camille Bordas

My first and favorite book of the year! Again, discovered at the wonderful Word After Word Bookstore in Truckee. The Mazal family is an eccentric, funny family living outside Paris. Each of the six kids is more brilliant than the next with skipped grades, early college entrance and graduation and several PhDs and Masters among them. No surprise that with that level of unique brilliance, they struggle socially and with the non-academic parts of life. Youngest Dory is just average smart but has social skills his siblings lack. When the family suffers a tragedy, they collapse into themselves leaving Dory to not only fend for himself a bit but also to show his siblings other ways to navigate life beyond classrooms and dissertation defenses. The whole family is lovable and made me laugh out loud. This is just a fun, enjoyable book for everyone! Shout out to my dear friend, Stacey, because Dory has a class assignment to write to a pen pal.
