This was a wonderful book to start my year. Although it deals with the utter devastation of Russia during World War II, I actually laughed out loud at parts. That speaks to the amazing skill of this author and the wonderful character, Kolya, who will remain one of the best characters I've ever met. This one gets my highest recommendation.
