Empire of the Summer Moon

By S.C. Gwynne

If you are looking for good nonfiction on Native American tribes and American West history look no further. This tells the incredible story of Cynthia Ann Parker who was kidnapped as a very young girl from her family's compound in Texas, when that was the outermost edge of the American frontier, and taken to live with the Comanche tribe. Her son later becomes the last chief of the tribe. The descriptions of the gruesome Comanche practices will turn your stomach but the glimpse into a fascinating part of American history is amazing.
