You Know When the Men Are Gone

By Siobhan Fallon

Short stories, which as you all know by now, I usually avoid.  They always leave me wanting more.  These are very loosely connected though so it helped a little.  They all take place on an Army base and it provides a glimpse into what is clearly a challenging life for military families.  The stresses and strains on these families include everything we all endure and so much more given their unique circumstances.  I have a good friend in the Navy and my respect for all branches of the military is profound so I especially appreciated this small peek into a life it takes a strong, select few to endure with skill and grace.

I write short, pithy, book recommendations for family and friends. My best life is comprised of my husband, my boys, my books, a quiet place, a comfortable chair, a cocktail on my side table, and a Vizsla in my lap.
