Pretty Things

By Janelle Brown

One woman from easily identifiable difficult circumstances and another from seemingly indulged, privileged circumstances are at one point briefly connected and then much later cross paths again but only one of them recalls their brief shared past. There is mystery and intrigue and buried resentments and misunderstandings. There is classic analysis of the often-ignored reality that everyone struggles despite outward appearances. Best of all, it is set in Lake Tahoe, primarily from Tahoe City down the West Shore. Brown does a great job giving the setting its due!

Meighan

I write short, pithy, book recommendations for family and friends. My best life is comprised of my husband, my boys, my books, a quiet place, a comfortable chair, a cocktail on my side table, and a Vizsla in my lap.
