The Catcher in the Rye

By J.D. Salinger

As with the past two years, I am including a beloved classic that everyone should enjoy. I read this every few years and pulled it out again this year because Matthew was leaving for college. Although Holden was away at a New England prep school instead of college, the atmosphere is much the same. I absolutely love that Salinger never allowed this treasure to be made into a movie. Holden lives uniquely in the mind of each reader and that is almost nonexistent among successful books today.
