The Nature of Fragile Things

By Susan Meissner

I am laughing because this one too is set in San Francisco, during the 1906 quake. This is the story of some strong women who find themselves in a very challenging situation following the earthquake as they have both discovered their marriages are not at all what they seemed. It has great SF history and good descriptions of the devastation and total chaos of the city after the quake. It inspired me to look into more accounts of the quake and I discovered Three Fearful Days. It is out of print and hard to find but if I get my hands on a copy, I will be sure to include it on next year’s list.

I write short, pithy, book recommendations for family and friends. My best life is comprised of my husband, my boys, my books, a quiet place, a comfortable chair, a cocktail on my side table, and a Vizsla in my lap.
