The Windfall

By Diksha Basu

An Indian family in the middle class ranks of Delhi comes into great wealth thanks to the father selling his app to a tech company. They move to a fancier side of town but the adjustment to the new life is not as easy as one would assume. I absolutely loved the busy body neighbors from the original housing tenement. As they make this dramatic move, they come to see that even on the rich side of town, there are many of the same challenges just in fancier surroundings. The new neighbors are a laugh and Basu does a great job describing the insecurities felt by the wealthy. There are some hilarious misunderstandings and all sorts of funny human foibles that remind one we all struggle a bit, even the wealthy! Money can make a lot of troubles go away, but not all, and it can also introduce new troubles.
