When We Believed in Mermaids

By Barbara O’Neal

Set in Santa Cruz, a pair of whackadoodle parents who own and manage a restaurant on the beach have two daughters and take in a stray young boy, Dylan, who becomes basically the girls’ older brother. There is a lot of dysfunction and the older sister, Josie, makes a dramatic, split-second decision that will allow her to disappear and completely start over. All is going well until Kit is sure she just spotted Josie on the television some ten years or so after her assumed death.

I write short, pithy, book recommendations for family and friends. My best life is comprised of my husband, my boys, my books, a quiet place, a comfortable chair, a cocktail on my side table, and a Vizsla in my lap.
